Buying Guides

Read these before you talk to any supplier

These guides are the reference pages you read before you request a quotation. They cover how the cost of a plant is really built up, how to choose between automation levels, how daily output is worked out from the product, mould and cycle, what is involved in starting a factory from scratch, and how to compare suppliers in different sourcing countries on the same basis.

They are written for buyers still in the planning stage, whether you are checking a budget for a board, sizing a first plant, or already running a factory and adding capacity. You do not need to be an engineer to use them, but it helps to have a rough output target and product mix in mind.

Work through them and you should be able to build a realistic investment figure, write a specification any supplier can quote against, and compare two quotations on the same scope instead of on the headline number.

Price Guide

Block Making Machine Price

A block making machine price is calculated from the moulding host, the moulds, the auxiliary equipment, the automation level and the freight, not taken from a fixed list. This guide shows the factors that move the figure, the machine families behind it, and the checklist to send before you ask for an exact factory price.
